I've been asked to keep some of my contents in a safe, what are the requirements?
If we've said that you need to have a safe for your jewellery or watches, it must be secured within the wall or floor, or be anchored to the floor if it's a freestanding safe. It must also have an adequate security rating, which is often referred to as the 'cash rating'. This means it must be adequate to protect the value of jewellery or watches you've listed on your Home Insurance Policy. For example a £1,000 cash rating can hold a maximum of £1,000 cash or £10,000 of valuables (such as jewellery and watches).
